Original submissions, and works either released into the public domain, or copyrighted but without restriction of distribution, are welcome.
Please put CLM: (i.e. "Coins List Mail") in subject lines.
If possible put the topic in all caps in the subject line: SHOW REPORT, BARBER DIMES, TRADING NOTICE, ANCIENTS. . . . If this procedure was followed by most posters, those new to the group would notice it and automatically tend to use it without even reading the FAQ.
Posts are generally of the following types:
Discussions on topics of general interest (i.e. grading). Discussions on specific numismatic topics (i.e. tokens), techniques (i.e. cleaning), or coins (i.e. English Half pennies) are also frequent.
Announcements of upcoming coin shows, ANA coin programs or other events.
Reports or comments on new books, trade press articles, etc.
Brief trade notices for coins and related numismatic items and materials. We have no objection to posting a message TRADING NOTICE: <subject> indicating that one wants to trade and soliciting off-list correspondence (this is still controversial so keep the post short and direct people to send you email for more details). We do not want to overwhelm the non-trading traffic. Many of us are using resources which do not permit "commercial use" of the network . . . so "for sale" notices may put us in violation.
Do not post commercial advertisements, buy/sell price lists, political lobbying messages, and/or anything not pertaining to the Coins list. Discussions about some commercial products, especially numismatics books and software, are generally allowed as long as they do not constitute "hidden" advertisements and biased endorsements.
