University of Sydney, Lidcombe, Australia
Bio: I am actually English, born and raised in Cheshire (Lewis Carrol country) and have lived (briefly) in Cambridge, Bangor, Aberdeen & London (all in the UK) prior to coming "down under" to work in Sydney, Australia. The University of Sydney's Health Sciences Faculty is about 25km west of the Harbour Bridge and 5km south of the Olympics 2000 site. We have a sports sciences department so we may see some of the atheletes first hand. (The swimming pool, at the site for the Olympics, has already been completed and it open for public use). My home in Sydney, is east of the bridge in the harbourside suburb of Rose Bay which is about a mile from the sea at Bondi Beach.
My coin collecting interests (note I didn't put numismatic--I'm a magpie as far as collecting goes but I have some main themes) include the following:
UK: hammered silver pennies, shillings, tokens, soverigns, modern silver
coins
Various Australian, Dutch and US coins (modern issues but a few early
coins).
I am particularly interested in tokens (issued as coins) associated with mail (post offices, stage coaches) and goldsmiths/silversmiths. The U.K. has many such tokens from C17 and C18--some of which are affordable in good condition.
